The Alumni Admissions Ambassador Program (AAAP) is a joint program between the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Office of Alumni Engagement. Share your OU experience with prospective students and their families through university recruitment efforts like college fairs and on-campus visit programs. Your enthusiasm for Oakland, and your personal success story, can make a difference for students exploring their college options.
The Creating American International Relationships (CAIR) Program is offered through the International Students and Scholars Office and provides international students with hospitality and resources for their integration with American culture. CAIR Program volunteers will introduce students to American family life and culture, help students move into their new “金殿棋牌s” (dorms or apartments) and introduce students to Oakland University and the surrounding community.
Welcome金殿棋牌 our newest alumni by serving as a commencement host during the fall and winter commencement ceremonies. If you are interested in volunteering at commencement, please complete the . Opportunities to volunteer include:
- Greeter: Duties include handing out programs and assisting guests upon arrival, as well as assisting to clear the O’rena at the end of the ceremony. Volunteer time commitment is 90 minutes prior to the start of the ceremony until approximately 30 minutes after the ceremony has concluded. During the ceremony, a hospitality area is available with refreshments for all volunteers.
- Student Usher: Duties include ensuring that students stay in a double file line as they leave the pre-ceremony staging area and enter into the O'rena. Student ushers may also provide directions to students on how to fill out the back of their registration cards, as well as assist students with regalia. Volunteer shift time is 90 minutes prior to the start of the ceremony until students have entered the O’rena.
- Wheel Chair Host: Duties include escorting guests to their seats in wheelchairs, as needed, and returning the wheelchair to the appropriate location, both before and after the ceremony. Volunteer shift time is 90 minutes prior to the start of the ceremony until approximately 30 minutes after the ceremony has concluded.
- Hearing Device Distribution: Duties include providing hearing devices to guests in need and ensuring that they are returned at the end of each ceremony. Volunteer shift time is 90 minutes prior to the start of the ceremony until approximately 30 minutes after the ceremony has concluded.
Help welcome the soon-to-be graduates into the Oakland University Alumni Association at Commencement Fair. Interact with students as they pick-up their graduation tickets and regalia and learn about graduation day. Help them stay connected to OU after graduation by encouraging them to update their records and provide them with a special gift on behalf of the OUAA.
The English Department offers an Alumni Mentoring program, pairing alumni from the English department with OU seniors in English on the basis of experience and interest. Mentors may meet face-to-face with their students, others communicate by e-mail or Skype. No long-term commitment necessary. At the end of each semester, the department hosts an alumni thank-you mixer event for alumni and students. If interested, please contact Annie Gilson at gilson@ with your job market experience.
The OUAA Golf Challenge is an annual summer fundraiser that benefits the OUAA Scholarship Program. Alumni volunteers are needed as hole-spotters, so if you enjoy the outdoors and striking up conversations with new people, this is a great opportunity!
